61st Annual Meeting of the Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis Research

It is our privilege to invite and welcome you back to Basel, Switzerland for the 61st Annual Meeting of the Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis Research (GTH) 2017.

The educational and scientific program will provide state-of-the-art sessions and plenary lectures given by experts as well as a platform for the presentation of original research in the field of thrombosis and hemostasis. In addition, you will have the possibility to attend satellite symposia organized by pharmaceutical companies and to visit their booths.

The GTH 2017 Annual Meeting has been organized based on the theme from individual patients to pathophysiological insights. In our field of thrombosis and hemostasis, rare diseases and instructive phenotypes have made a fundamental contribution to pathophysiological understanding, helped us isolate causative (genetic) factors, provided insights into the complexity of systems biology and served as targets for drug development. Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, Von Willebrand disease and hemophilias, ADAMTS13 and TTP, gain- or loss-of-function mutations in the vitamin K cycle or in genes of platelet receptors and FXIII deficiency are just a few examples. Close collaboration with affected patients is indispensable.

Nature’s experiments continue to fascinate. A wealth of new and powerful molecular tools and animal models boosts our knowledge of the molecular basis for pathophysiological mechanisms. They are often the key to understanding more common and complex diseases that affect large numbers of patients and are of vital interest to the community at large.

Save the date for the 61st Annual Meeting of the GTH in Basel/Switzerland. We warmly welcome you to join us and making GTH 2017 a full success.

Yours sincerely,

Prof. Dr. med. Johanna A. Kremer Hovinga
